New Urban Docs: Afro Saxons


Part of a new wave of films exploring the culture of Punk, ‘AfroSaxons’ from Chocolate Film, and directors /producers Mark Currie and Rachel Wang is being screened at the Brooklyn based BAMcinematek as part of the Afro – Punk Festival. Mr.Sniff& Scratch had the pleasure of screening the original ‘Afro Punk’ doc by New York Director James Spooner several years ago to a full house thatlocated the sub – culture of African American Punkrock ..with responses to music, culture, society and art thats too Urban to even start thinking about, especially the issue of hair, with ‘Afro Saxons’ as a doc exploring the subject of hair in a very unique way. New Spotlight: Barry Adamson- from Moss Side to David Lynch…


Former member of the art-punk band The Bad Seeds with Nick Cave, Barry Adamson’s work in music and film has grown from his early days of growing up in Manchester’s Moss Side. He’s gone on to score music thats contributions for films for directors such as Oliver Stones ‘Natural Born Killers’ , Derek Jarman’s ‘The Last of England’ and David Lynch’s ‘Lost Highway’.. quite an impressive line up for someone who spent his early years in Moss Side listening to Led Zeppelin, Motown and Bowie wearing a Batman costume … More information can be found at;
